I've always been of the opinion that what you call your characters can say quite a bit about you (e.g. Qelarhyna says I have a fondness for long and complicated names that no one else can spell). So, it would be great if everyone can indulge me in my little interest and tell me where they got the ideas for their character names from. I'll start myself, just to get things going. Most of you won't know this, but Qel wasn't my first character, Weaverdene was. I didn't have a clue when it came to a name, I ended up thinking of our local rivers, Weaver and Dane, so I put them together. Weaverdane sounded male and the character was female, so I changed the name to Weaverdene. It got easier after that.

Neverwinter Nights had a "Random Character Name Generator" Kayne Swift was the name of my Cleric (combat healer). I also used the name on Guild Wars for my PvP Monk. So i guess it ported well to a Druid.

Well for a while i did actually know where i got my character name from but i've pretty much forgotten but i'll give it a shot.
I had my favourites list open and in it a I had a Sonic the hedgehog game (lame i know) and underneath it a frog racing game (even lamer still) and so i decided on it for some game i was playing ages ago and it stuck through Guild Wars and i adapted it to say what my character was in the name.

I do not have any particular reason for choosing the nick "Chowie". One day it just suddenly popped up in my head when I was thinking about a nick, which would sound like a bit childish and I wanted an ending with -ie instead of -y. I liked the dog race Chow Chow very much so it became - Chow-ie - Chowie. ;D Although, some of my friends think that I have got the nick from Chow Mein ... a chinese noodle dish

See the post above well he is my RL m8.......he introduced me to WoW. Originally i thought the game was for geeks and boring and used to take the mick out of him. One day i found his comp unguarded so decided to create a char of my own on his account for laugh. I like the not so normal role and figured not many people would play lock as people like goody magic and hitting things with swords. Then the name bit was easy - beginning of my surname Firth (Fir) and bein a warlock (lock) became firlock. But as ^^ AURIEN ahem !! wouldnt let me migrate the char i had to start all over again. and as Firlock is MY NAME i chose the exact same char with the exact same profs and skills but had to change the last bit to suit so i became FirloX.....The end ;D and BTW i am prob more of a geek than him now WoW is mint

Hehe nice posts, I'm really into my books, R.A Salvatore is my favourite author, he writes all the Drizzt novels and the dark elf ones, My friends know i have a thing about Drow hehe. Donnia appeared in a recentish book, a bit of a crazy cow that enjoyed fighting.....go figure. Rythla i came up with myself, and embarassingly, Rianne is the name i would choose for my daughter if i ever get one
